USA Hauling & Recycling recently participated in a food and toy drive in Enfield and East Windsor, Connecticut. The toys will be distributed to the local police departments to supply their toy banks. Dozens and dozens of donated food and toys were collected this year, in USA Hauling & Recycling’s 16th year supporting the drive. Employees and their family and friends from all of USA Hauling & Recycling’s locations participated in the yearly event.

The 5th Annual Misfit Toys Throwdown was held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at CrossFit Revelation in Enfield, CT. USA Hauling & Recycling was the title sponsor of the charity event, which was hosted by CrossFit Revelation and Yankee Crossfit. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the “Gunny Sergeant Thomas Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund” in his memory.
Gunnery Sgt. Thomas J. Sullivan was a Springfield, MA native and the recipient of two Purple Hearts who also served two tours in Iraq. On Thursday, July 16, 2015 during a terror attack on the Naval Reserve Center in Chattanooga, TN, Sullivan saved the lives of 13 Marines and a sailor by bringing them to safety before returning to face an active shooter, and ultimately, giving his life while defending his country.

Three members from USA Hauling & Recycling, Frank M Antonacci, Chris Jez and Eric Fredericksen, all competed in the event, which included three WODs (Workout Of the Day) with the top teams competing in a fourth and final WOD. Last year’s event donated $6,000 to Last Call Fiundation in Boston, MA for fallen firefighter’s families and also donated hundreds of brand new toys.
